Exosomes

Healthy skin underpins every aesthetic treatment, and for good reason. Skin quality plays a significant role in the outcome of all treatments, particularly injectables. Medical-grade skincare and advanced regenerative treatments can genuinely transform how the skin functions and behaves in a way that cosmetic products alone cannot.

Exosomes are one of the most exciting advances in regenerative aesthetics and are now available in clinic. They are used to support skin and scalp repair, regeneration and overall tissue health, and can be incorporated into treatment plans to enhance results, recovery and long-term skin quality.

Purasomes

Exosomes are tiny, highly active cell-signalling molecules derived from stem cells. They act as biological messengers, allowing cells to communicate more effectively and guiding key processes such as repair, regeneration and inflammation control.

When delivered into the skin or scalp, exosomes help encourage healthier cell behaviour, allowing tissues to function more like younger, more resilient skin or scalp cells. This makes them a powerful regenerative tool when used alongside collagen stimulating treatments.

Exosomes are most commonly used in combination with microneedling or radiofrequency microneedling. They are applied to the skin or scalp immediately after treatment, while the micro-channels created by microneedling are still open, allowing for optimal penetration and absorption.

Once delivered, exosomes release growth factors, cytokines and signalling molecules that support the skin’s healing response and regenerative processes. Treatment is typically delivered as part of a course alongside microneedling-based treatments, depending on individual skin or scalp concerns.

Suitability for exosomes is discussed during consultation, and they are incorporated selectively as part of a personalised treatment plan.

Exosomes can help improve a range of skin and scalp concerns by supporting repair, regeneration and overall tissue health. They are particularly useful where healing, recovery and skin quality are a priority, including:

  • Poor skin quality or texture
  • Dull, tired or lacklustre skin
  • Fine lines and early signs of ageing
  • Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
  • Compromised skin barrier function
  • Prolonged redness or slower healing following treatments
  • Hair thinning and scalp health concerns, where appropriate

Exosomes are used to enhance treatment outcomes rather than replace other treatments and are most effective when incorporated into a combined regenerative treatment plan, particularly alongside microneedling or Radiofrequency Microneedling.

Exosomes themselves do not add discomfort to treatment. Any sensations experienced relate to the microneedling or Radiofrequency Microneedling procedure rather than the exosomes.

Following treatment, it is common to experience temporary redness, warmth or mild swelling. Exosomes may help support faster recovery and reduce post-treatment inflammation.

Some patients notice improvements in skin hydration, brightness and recovery within one to two weeks following treatment. Because exosomes work by supporting the skin’s regenerative processes, improvements in skin quality continue to develop over time.

Results are often more noticeable when exosomes are used consistently as part of a course of treatment.

Results vary depending on baseline skin or scalp quality, age and lifestyle factors. When used alongside collagen stimulating treatments, exosomes help support ongoing regeneration and collagen production, contributing to longer lasting improvements in skin quality.

Many patients choose to incorporate exosomes regularly alongside microneedling treatments as part of a long-term skin health and collagen banking strategy.
