Dermal Fillers

As we age, we naturally lose collagen, elastin, and facial volume. In recent years, we are also increasingly seeing facial volume loss related to weight loss, whether intentional or unintentional. Changes in body weight can significantly affect the face, leading to hollowing, reduced support, and a more tired or aged appearance.

Dermal fillers can be used to carefully restore structure, support, and balance — enhancing facial contours while preserving natural expression. At Rejuvenation by Dr Morag, we use dermal fillers to carefully restore structure, support, and balance. Treatments are administered precisely & are never about overfilling or altering appearance, but about restoring what has been lost in a considered, proportionate, and natural way – enhancing the face while preserving its natural character.

Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid – a substance naturally found in the body that attracts and retains moisture, supporting hydration and volume.

Treatment involves the careful placement of filler into specific areas of the face using advanced injection techniques. Every treatment begins with a comprehensive consultation and facial assessment, considering bone structure, soft tissue support, and skin quality to create a personalised plan.

The aim is to restore what has been lost, enhance natural contours, and achieve a refreshed, balanced result.

Dermal fillers can be used to treat a wide range of concerns, including:

Cheeks

Full, defined cheeks are a sign of youth and beauty. Cheek filler can restore volume lost as part of the ageing process, and add cheek definition to beautify. Adding or restoring volume to the cheeks can have the effect of a “mini facelift”, helping to restore the more youthful “heart-shaped” face and proportion and helping to give you that fresher look subtley, while also improving the appearance of nasiolabial folds and the undereye area which can be very ageing.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty

This is an advanced aesthetics treatment to alter the shape of the nose with a small amount of carefully placed dermal filler instead of getting surgery.  It is one of the fastest growing treatments in the aesthetics industry and a treatment that really excites me as you can really see the difference it makes to patients!  The results show again the surprising contradiction that adding a small amount of filler can actually make the nose appear smaller!  Various techniques are used to smooth nose humps and bumps, make a nose appear shorter, longer, narrower, straighter and even give that cute tip lift at the end of your nose that you never even realised that you wanted before! Please see separate section below for some of my before & after examples of this treatment.

Full Face Rejuvenation

Full Face Rejuvenation takes a comprehensive approach to facial ageing, recognising that changes occur across the face rather than in isolation. By carefully assessing volume loss, skin quality, muscle activity, and facial balance, a bespoke treatment plan can be created using a combination of treatments such as anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, and collagen-stimulating or skin-quality treatments. The aim is to restore harmony and support across the face, achieving a refreshed, natural appearance that respects individual features rather than focusing on any single area.

Chin Filler

As we age the chin gets shorter and rotates upward, making the lower third of the face shorter & resulting in less support to the overlying skin.  This can contribute to the appearance of jowls or saggy skin & also result in the development of marionette lines – sometimes making patients feeling they look sad or grumpy. Careful placement of filler will restore support in this area and can also reduce the appearance of jowls.

Jawline Filler

Lost definition along the jawline can be a very ageing feature. Fillers can be placed in and around this area to support sagging skin, improve the appearance of jowls and recontour the jawline, thus slimming the face.

Perioral Lines

This area is most commonly treated with dermal fillers to restore some of the hyaluronic acid that reduces in the skin with age. Treatment with filler in this area helps to restore lost volume and attract moisture to the area to smooth out these fine lines.

Marionette lines

Are the lines that run downwards from the corners of the mouth & commonly appear as people age as the face sags.  These folds form as the skin sags down and forwards. They are best treated as part of a full face rejuvenation – often involving treating higher up the face & the mid-face first to repalce lost volume,  supported and lift, however filler can be carefully placed here directly to soften any remaining lines

Nasiolabial folds

These deep folds form as the face drops down and forwards. They are often best treated indirectly by lifting the cheek with dermal fillers, however the fold itself can also be softened by treating carefully with filler.

Temple filler

Loss of volume in the temples is a common but often overlooked sign of facial ageing and can contribute to a more hollow or drawn appearance. Temple filler can be used to gently restore structural support and soften hollowing, helping to rebalance the upper face and improve overall facial harmony. This area requires advanced anatomical knowledge due to its complexity and is treated conservatively, with careful attention to safety, proportion, and natural results.

Tear trough filler (under-eye area)

The tear trough is the area beneath the eyes where hollowing or shadowing can create a tired or aged appearance. Tear trough filler may be used in selected cases to improve under-eye hollowing and support the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek, creating a fresher, more rested look. This area is not suitable for everyone, and careful assessment of skin quality, facial structure, and fluid retention is essential. Treatment is offered selectively and only when it is felt to be safe and likely to achieve a natural, refined outcome.

Suitability for each area will be assessed carefully during consultation.

Discomfort is generally minimal. Most dermal fillers contain a local anesthetic to improve comfort, and additional measures can be used if required. Patients typically describe a pressure sensation rather than pain.

Treatment usually takes 30–60 minutes, allowing time for detailed assessment, careful placement, and refinement to ensure optimal results.

Results are visible immediately following treatment, with further improvement over the following 1–2 weeks as any mild swelling settles and the filler integrates with the surrounding tissue.

Depending on the product used, treatment area, and individual metabolism, results typically last between 6–18 months. Longevity can vary, and maintenance treatments may be recommended to preserve results.
