Hair Loss and Scalp Health

Hair loss and thinning can affect both men and women and may be influenced by a combination of genetic, hormonal, lifestyle and health-related factors. Changes in hair density, shedding or scalp health can have a significant impact on confidence and wellbeing.

Hair loss and scalp treatments focus on supporting the scalp environment, stimulating hair follicles and improving hair quality and density over time. At Rejuvenation by Dr Morag, treatments are centred around regenerative approaches designed to encourage healthier hair growth rather than quick fixes.

Hair and scalp treatments are tailored to the individual and focus on regenerative approaches designed to support scalp health and stimulate hair follicles.

Treatment options include:

  • Scalp microneedling with exosomes

Microneedling is used to stimulate the scalp and create micro-channels, after which exosomes specifically formulated to stimulate the hair follicle & nourish the scalp are applied. This allows the exosomes to be delivered effectively into the scalp, where they support follicle health, reduce inflammation and encourage healthier hair growth. Exosomes are used specifically as an add-on to microneedling rather than as a standalone treatment.

  • Polynucleotides for Hair Restoration

Polynucleotides are an advanced regenerative treatment designed to support scalp health and optimise the environment for healthy hair growth.

When injected into the scalp, polynucleotides work at a cellular level to improve tissue quality, enhance microcirculation, and support repair processes around the hair follicle. By improving the condition of the scalp, they help create a healthier foundation for stronger, thicker-looking hair over time.

This treatment is particularly suitable for early hair thinning, scalp ageing, and individuals looking to support overall scalp health as part of a regenerative hair restoration programme.

A course of treatments is typically recommended, as hair regeneration is a gradual biological process that requires repeated stimulation. Your personalised treatment plan will be discussed following a detailed consultation and scalp assessment.

  • Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) for hair restoration – coming soon

PRP uses your own blood-derived growth factors to support hair follicle function and stimulate hair growth. PRP will soon be available in clinic as part of a regenerative hair restoration programme.

A course of 4-6 sessions, spaced approximately 2-3 weeks apart, is typically recommended. This approach helps to restore and support hair follicle function, improve scalp health and encourage stronger, thicker hair growth over time.

Treatment plans are developed following consultation and scalp assessment. Treatments are typically delivered as a course, as hair regeneration is a gradual biological process that requires repeated stimulation over time.

In many cases, treatments can be combined for enhanced results, as they stimulate the hair follicles in different but complementary ways. For example, microneedling creates controlled micro-channels and increases local blood flow, PRP delivers concentrated growth factors to support follicle function, and polynucleotides improve scalp quality and cellular repair. By addressing circulation, inflammation, tissue health, and follicle stimulation together, combination treatment plans can create a stronger foundation for healthier, thicker-looking hair over time.

Hair and scalp treatments can help improve:

  • Hair thinning or reduced density
  • Excessive shedding
  • Early stages of hair loss
  • Poor scalp health
  • Reduced hair quality or strength
  • Hair concerns related to hormonal or lifestyle changes

Suitability for treatment depends on the type and cause of hair loss, which is assessed during consultation.

Discomfort varies depending on the treatment used. Scalp microneedling and injectable treatments are generally well tolerated, with measures taken to maximise comfort.

Temporary redness, tenderness or mild swelling of the scalp can occur and usually settles within a few days.

Treatment time depends on the treatment plan and may range from 30 to 60 minutes per session.

Hair regeneration is a gradual process. Early improvements in scalp health may be noticed within a few weeks, but visible changes in hair density and quality typically develop over several months.

The best results are usually seen after completing a full course of treatment.

Results vary depending on the underlying cause of hair loss, age, hormonal factors and lifestyle. Regenerative hair treatments aim to support ongoing follicle health rather than provide a permanent solution.

Maintenance treatments may be recommended to help sustain results and support long-term scalp and hair health.
